Just last week I reported on Godiva’s magnificent new pop-up on Fifth Avenue dedicated to all that is Valentine’s Day. Well, it seems chocolate’s monopoly of love is finally being contested by none other than Mark Israel, founder of the Lower East Side hotspot Doughnut Plant, as he will open a brand new location in the Chelsea Hotel on Valentine’s Day.

Virgin America, the California-based airline, has announced it will include non-stop flights to Cancun in their flight itinerary and have VH1 be a part of it. The flight to Cancun is the first flight the three-year-old award winning airline is doing there. It flies directly to Cancun International Airport from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) or San Francisco International Airport (SFO). This trip marks as the third internaltional flight and the 14th destination in North America.

Arriving late February, J.M.W. Turner’s “Modern Rome - Campo Vaccino” is moving into the 19th Century British Gallery of the J. Paul Getty Museum in Brentwood, California. Estimating at 44.9 million dollars and towering at 35.5 inches by 48 inches (90.2cm x 122cm), the 1839 original is a guaranteed win for the Los Angeles creative society.

Open for just under a year in Berkeley's Brower Center, Gather Restaurant has become an East Bay dining destination, and not just for crunchy Berkeley types. Executive Chef and co-owner Sean Baker was named Esquire Magazine's 2010 chef of the year, and his cooking gets more compelling with each new seasonal menu.
