Patricia Urquiola Dazzles Coral Gables With Her Arrival

On Feb. 3, Luminaire, the Gables’ very own company of modern furnishings, had the pleasure of welcoming innovative and captivating style from Milan with the arrival of world-renowned Spanish interior designer, Patricia Urquiola. To correspond with the 37th anniversary of its extensive partnership with modern, Italian furnishing company, B&B Italia, Luminaire celebrated Urquiola’s influx with an intimately private luncheon amongst Miami’s most exclusive journalists and close friends, followed by an “open-to-the-public” evening lecture, at the Coral Gables Museum.

Urquiola elegantly commenced the event with a spectacular presentation towards the 300 seated guests, eloquently revealing her exceptional thought process and work ethic, producing her fabulous interior design. She illustrated her new perspectives with photographs of all of the craftsmen she had interacted with whilst working on the weaving of her Crinoline line of chairs in the Philippines, and even discussed her approach to the Barcelona Mandarin Oriental Hotel, in which she considered both the visual language of the historic bank building as well as Asian influences in her use of space.

Many of Patricia Urquiola’s original creations for B&B Italia, and her interior lines, were featured among various areas of the extroverted atrium in the Luminaire showroom such as her Fat-Fat Series, Tufty-Time Line, and her new Bend sofa, which was witnessed in the very center of the atrium. Urquiola’s outdoor furniture were also featured among Luminaire’s second-level terrace, such as pieced from the diverse series Canasta, Crinoline and Ravel, created a vast scenery of unique designs and inventive patterns, capable of being admired by any design enthusiast.

Notable guests include B&B Italia’s CEO, Stefano Ferro, who personally spoke to Christina Barrios, the Consul General of Spain, amongst many leading architects, and design admirers, as they enjoyed their night of fun, and impeccable interior style. “Thank you for a refreshing and energizing evening” Imma Roca stated. “Let Nasir know how fortunate we feel for having you in charge of our community’s good taste.” Seems that this event not only delighted the crowd, but inspired them as well.
