The sound of waves crashing served as the background music as a group of St Croix’s tastemakers sat down for a private14-seat 4-course dinner by the revered Top Chef Master and Chopped All-Star Anita Lo. The setting was the Estate Bella Sera, a multi-million dollar home facing the water, owned by Larry and Peggy Meyer. On the outdoor patio with a beautiful bar on one side, and the ocean on the other, we tasted the creations of Chef Lo who owns the celebrated West Village restaurant Anissa.

Pier 36 in Manhattan was buzzing like a nightclub… at 9 in the morning, Monday as musician Pete Wentz joined VW’s CEO Jonathan Browning to unveil the third generation, 21st Century Beetle. Wentz, at the DJ booth, provided a private and personalized spin session for the exclusive group of revelers who started the debauchery early in the week (and early in the morning), sipping morning cocktails and snacking on breakfast hors d’ouevres.

The ultra-chic and exclusive Boom Boom Room, now known as Top of the Standard, was filled to the brim with the fashionable and sexy, Friday night. I joined designer Marc Bouwer, who recently dressed Melissa Leo for the Oscars, to talk about his upcoming swimwear line. Also at our table was the fabulously creative Brad Beckerman, who is the brains behind the A-list branding and marketing firm IT Worldwide, but more recently, he has founded Moonshine, the newest quadruple distilled corn whiskey to hit the bar scene. This meeting of the minds was made complete by mixologist Shem Blum who poured out the Moonshine cocktails for us to sip as we talked fashion and passion.

The Mondrian SoHo was a-buzz with hot people checking out hot electronics, Thursday night. Jessica Szohr joined the young and fabulous for a preview of the world’s first PlayStation Certified smartphone: the Xperia Play. The private party in the Penthouse of the Mondrian SoHo featured a fabulous DJ set by Alexa Chung who was looking fabulous in her signature Chanel. Party revelers enjoyed canapés crafted by Top Chef’s Sam Talbot and Grey Goose cocktails.

The Kitchen NYC hosted the exclusive kick-off party for Martini Week with Thrillist. The city’s food elite turned out to see NYC’s top mixologists showcase their talent with live demonstrations of their mixing mastery. Guests noshed on hors d’oeurves from Top Chef’s Cynthia Sestito as they sipped on Bombay Sapphire and Grey Goose martini cocktails. It was a night of glitz and glam food from quail legs to Grey Goose cupcakes.

The annual Save Venice Un Ballo in Maschera (Masked Ball) took place at The Plaza Hotel on Tuesday night. The event always brings out New York City’s most glamorous crowd and this year was no exception. Bad girl of rock Courtney Love and “Rachel Zoe Project” cast member Brad Goreski were in attendance along with familiar faces in the NYC social scene – Luigi Tadini, Alexandra Lind Rose, Matthew White, Adelina Wong Ettelson, Carlos Souza, Olivia Chantecaille, and many more.

The Rose Club at the Plaza Hotel welcomed the U.S. launch of a new premium gin, Monday night. Nolet’s launched their Silver Dry Gin, a unique spirit that isn’t your typical gin. Its fruit forward flavor and aroma of botanicals made for some light and fresh cocktails to go along with passed hors d’oeuvres for the VIP’s invited to taste the gin.

The company also launched their super-premium $700 bottle of Nolet’s Reserve gin, making it one of the most expensive gins on the market.

Tasting Table joined forces with Kahlua to host an exclusive 16-seat dinner. The team-up was in honor of the Delicioso Night In initiative which aims to showcase the importance of staying in and enjoying good food and conversation. In NYC, where we all run around night after night, how appropriate (and necessary) is that? Handsome Tasting Table CEO Geoff Bartokovics held the intimate dinner in his beautiful SoHo penthouse. The gorgeous Danielle Kyrillos of Top Chef: Just Desserts also attended. It was great to kick back with a menu inspired by Kahlúa’s Veracruz heritage. We started with oysters, carnitas tostadas and scallop ceviche and moved on to a decadent pork belly on masa mash, and Veracruz-style fish stew with a spicy tomato broth. The dessert course had everyone ooh-ing; a mexican hot chocolate cake with Kahlúa Creme Anglaise. To accompany our eats were Kahlua cocktails including a Kahlua Fizz and Kahlua Sour, new takes on the liquer that most people exclusively associate with a White Russian, the cocktails were pleasantly innovative and a good use of the rich, coffee flavors of the spirit.
