KRLD Restaurant Week: Best Bets

It comes once a year, like Christmas, except KRLD Restaurant Week lasts longer and ends up costing you less. From Aug. 16-22nd, locals and visitors alike can enjoy a three-course meal around Dallas for $35, $7 of which goes to The North Texas Food Bank or Lena Pope Home.

Elli Grace Releases Fall Trend Report For Luxe Signature Line

It’s good to see some local boutiques carry pieces by Dallas designers. What’s even better is seeing some Dallas designers create their own boutique–inside a shopping mall. That’s the legend of Elli Grace,a store inside The Shops at Willow Bend in Plano that opened last year at the hands of designers Sue Young and Lamarr Nanton.

The Green Room: Back With a Vengeance

Elm Street appears to be the first artery of Deep Ellum to get the blood pumping again, and boy are we glad to see it. After the reinstatement of live music venue Trees last year (they celebrated their one year anniversary last night to a packed house,) neighbor Green Room was the next in line to see a much-anticipated comeback.

Music to My Ears: The Haute 5 Live Music Venues in Dallas

The American Airlines Center, House of Blues, Superpages.com Center…all the “big” names in live music appear at these super-stadiums, from Lady Gaga and Heart to Pat Green and Jack Johnson. It’s not like I am against such behemoth stages or headliners, but for the sake of this blog, I’d rather highlight some independent Dallas venues, those that have either survived the sad collapse of Deep Ellum, or risen like a pheonix from the ashes.

Gold Class Cinema Combines Fine Dining and Movies

You’re probably familiar with the dinner and a movie concept, a la Studio Movie Grill. It’s not a new idea, nor is it typically known as a luxe dining experience; pizza, nachos and and burgers being the normal fare, with a few salads and beer buckets thrown in. Not to mention the banquet-style seating at such venues, with rigid chairs in such close proximity to those behind you that it’s difficult to hear Angelina’s sultry monologue over the smacking and slurping.

FAÇONNABLE: Fashion with a French Twist Joins the Galleria

The French do everything right. Cooking, kissing, styling hair…not to mention fashion. Which is why the appearance of a new Façonnable store inside the Galleria Mall is so exciting…or, in other words, très chic.

Perry Perry, Quite Contrary: Why You Should Give This Steak Place a Try

Dallas needs another steak restaurant about as much as we need another football stadium. Or a hole in the head. Or another cardiac arrest due to too much intake of what you find in steak restaurants.

I know this as well as the next local, yet something tonight drew me to Perry’s on McKinney Avenue.

Back to School: The Haute 5 Kid’s Clothing Stores in Dallas

You’re more excited than Junior now that the summer’s coming to an end. Show your appreciation by decking the kids out in the finest back to school gear, sponsored by these local spots.

A true Highland Park gem, this estate on Bordeaux Avenue lives up to its address with a resplendent, ornate nod to the European homes situated on lush, yawning acres.
