KRLD Restaurant Week: Best Bets

It comes once a year, like Christmas, except KRLD Restaurant Week lasts longer and ends up costing you less. From Aug. 16-22, locals and visitors alike can enjoy a three-course meal in more than 130 eateries around Dallas for $35, $7 of which goes to The North Texas Food Bank or Lena Pope Home. Prix-fix for a good cause? We’re on it. Here’s some participating restaurants you should sink your teeth into. Make your reservations now. The Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek

As winners of the 2009 AIWF DFW Chapter Wine & Food Pairing Contest for Restaurant Week, The Mansion is always a safe bet to sample. A glimpse of the menu this year: Summer Zuchini Soup with Goat Cheese Fritters, Crawfish-stuffed Texas Chicken, and a Peach Sundae with Vanilla Panna Cotta and Almond Crumble.

Celebrity Chef Tre Wilcox of “Top Chef” fame is the wizard behind the culinary creations at this North Dallas favorite. On this year’s Restaurant Week menu: Seared Shrimp and Diver Scallops with Watermelon and Cilantro, a Roast Beef Tenderloin with Ancho Shiner Bock Sauce, and a cake dubbed Chocolate Seduction. How could you refuse?

Tillman’s Roadhouse

There’s nothing more Texan than Tillman’s. Thekitchen  crew at this Oak Cliff home away from home makes classic southern dishes a delicacy. Must-trys on the prix-fix: Texas Farms Green Salad with Avacado “Margarita” Croutons, Post Oak Smoked Pork Ribs with Chipotle BBQ and White Cheddar Mac and Cheese, and a smore for dessert.
