Kitchen Confidential – OOH LA LA with Pascal Lorange
Pascal Lorange knows haute cuisine. He has worked for three-star Michelin Chef Georges Blanc, served as Julio Iglesias’ private chef and has personally cooked for Oscar de la Renta, Princess Stephanie of Monaco and the Clintons, among others. This Belgian-born foodie is now the bi-coastal Corporate Executive Chef for one of LA’s hautest restaurants, the French Riviera-inspired Fig & Olive. Here, Lorange discusses his passion for olive oil, cooking for Bill Clinton and what it was like preparing a $17,900 per-plate meal for our newly re-elected President, Barack Obama.
Haute Scene: The 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards
Viewers are typically just as excited to see Emmy night fashion choices as they are to see its winners. Trophies as well as gorgeous gowns were both on prominent display September 23 at the ceremony’s official post-party, The Governors Ball. Stunning guests such as Zooey Deschanel, Heidi Klum, Tina Fey and Lucy Liu marveled at the 100,000 fresh-cut roses adorning tables inside the Los Angeles Convention Center’s West Hall, while winners such as Kevin Costner and Aaron Paul enjoyed Beaulieu Vineyard wines, Marich chocolates and dishes of roast tenderloin at the “Romantic Rhapsody in Red”-themed gala.
Haute Scene: Lacma’s Art + Film Gala
LACMA’s second annual Art + Film gala may have been the most glamorous bash of the season. Eva Chow and Leonardo DiCaprio co-chaired the October 27 fete, which was held in honor of artists Stanley Kubrick and Ed Ruscha. 550 guests including Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Aniston, Tom Hanks, Leslie Moonves, Brian Grazer, Cameron Diaz, Robert Iger, François-Henri Pinault and wife Salma Hayek sipped on Laurent Perrier champagne during a pre-dinner cocktail reception. Following dinner, Terry Semel presented Ruscha with his award while Steven Spielberg presented Kubrick’s widow, Christiane, with his honor. Florence + the Machine performed following the award ceremony.
Haute Scene : Carousel Of Hope Gala
Believe it or not, there is one thing in life that terrifies George Clooney. That Oscar winner was forced to face his fear of public singing while being honored at Barbara Davis’ October 20 Carousel of Hope gala. Clasping a bottle of wine for liquid courage, the actor, who received the evening’s “Brass Ring Award” for his many philanthropic efforts, joined Neil Diamond for a rousing rendition of “Sweet Caroline” at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Guests like Quincy Jones, Clive Davis and Jay Leno also helped to raise $2.5 million for the organization, which was sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, Belvedere and Chandon.
