A homey cottage with gray cedar shingles and blue-and-white-striped awnings stands juxtaposed to the concrete jungle of the Meatpacking District in New York City. Appearing to have been stolen from the shores of the Hamptons in an elaborate hoax is no hoax at all. The incongruent house is now home to American icon Tommy Hilfiger. No joke. Well the man himself will not be resting his busy head here, but his collections will.

Next year Miami will be welcoming a 130,000-ton resident. The Carnival Breeze, Carnival Cruise Lines’ newest and largest addition to their expansive fleet, will make its debut in Europe in June 2012 and then move to its permanent address at the Port of Miami in November.

Ritz-Carlton plans to open its third property in Japan, this time in the ancient city of Kyoto. This project, which includes the rebuilding of now closed Hotel Fujita Kyoto, is expected to start early next year and be completed by 2014. The hotel will feature fewer than 140 guest rooms, restaurants and a spa, all combining aspects from both traditional Japanese and Western luxury hotel styles.

The worldwide recognition of Brazil’s undeniable passion and talents in soccer (“football”) is about to be something fans can sport proudly on their wrists. Swiss watchmaker, Parmigiani Fleurier, has just announced a partnership with the Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF).

The French government has announced that the Park Hyatt Paris Vendome has been awarded a five-star classification of the highest honor. It has been crowned one of eight official palace hotels in France. A “palace hotel” is a nickname that many Paris hotels have used over the years as a self-awarded title, making it unofficial. Last year, the government of France decided to make this category official, while laying out specific criteria for five-star hotels to compete for the rating of Distinction palace.

The Junior League of San Francisco (JLSF) held their 85th Annual Fashion Show on April 8th, also commemorating their 100th anniversary. The fashion show, produced by Macy’s was held at the luxurious Fairmont Hotel. The runway models consisted of Junior League members and their families. Fashion show segments included: Rachel Roy, Mad Men, Ocean View, Rainforest, Urban Island, and Studio 54. The closing segment by Diamonds are Forever featured many beautiful gowns by Sue Wong, Ralph Lauren, and Calvin Klein. Lancome helped the models glow with their amazing makeup.

After Bruno Mars, performed at his sold out show at the Roseland Ballroom, he hosted his official “Hooligans in Wondaland” after-party on Wednesday, May 4th. Presented by SVEDKA Vodka, this soiree was at the popular Chelsea hotspot, 1Oak. Partygoers included Mary-Kate Olsen and Cobra Starships’s Gabe Saporta. The co-owners of 1Oak, Scott Sartiano, Richie Akiva, and Ronnie Madra also attended. After guests were treated to The Chainsmokers’s music behind the turntables, the Grammy award-winning artist jumped on the mic and gave a shout-out to the packed room. The night was topped off with a celebratory toasting and cake with SVEDKA Vodka specialty cocktails.
