Masa’s Presents its James Beard House Menu for One Day Only

Two days ago Chef Gregory Short and team were heating up one big kitchen in the Big Apple as they prepared plates for the esteemed guests of the James Beard House in NYC. As any culinary professional knows it is an honor to be asked to cook at the famed house, and so now it turns out that Chef Short is racking up some karma credit by giving back to the loyal patrons who helped him earn such an honor in the first place. Interested to know what the San Fran team served up for the New York foodies? On April 30, you’ll have your chance to taste for yourself.

What’s Haute at the Tribeca Film Festival?

It’s another one of our favorite times of the year in NYC, meaning that the Tribeca Film Festival has arrived once again. This project from Robert De Niro has captivated theater buffs since its genesis nine years ago. For the 2010 edition, the festival premiered with Shrek Forever After on Wednesday night at Zeigefeld Theatre. The talk around the water cooler was all about 3-D, a first for the series. The animated movie will be released for general audiences on May 22.

Seriously, sometimes the most odd items turn out to be of great value. Case and point: A rusted Aston Martin DB5 that has not been in use for more than 20 years. Bonhams in London is putting on the auction block a rusted and un-driveable Aston Martin DB5, you know, like the ones James Bond made famous. In its hay day this piece of rusted steel was a millionaires play toy, probably eliciting oohs and aahs anywhere every time it hit the streets, yet today not so much.

It’s Saturday night; do you know where your art lover is? If it was last Saturday night, April 17, then chances are they were at O’Gara Coach Company for Paul Pascarella’s opening reception of “Recent Paintings.” And they would have been in good company too, because some well-respected Hollywood names showed up to demonstrate their support, including Anjelica Huston, Peter Fonda, James Caan, Harry Dean Stanton, Rebecca de Mornay, and Bijan.
