Mother’s Day in the Magic City

The Mother’s Day menus have been pouring in, so trying to decide where to go to honor the woman who gave you life can be quite tricky in a city as diverse as Miami. For luxury lovers who want to show mom how much they care, may we recommend Area 31 at Epic Hotel? Billed as a brunch for the modernista mom, the award-winning restaurant in downtown Miami will offer three hours of unlimited culinary delights, accompanied by our favorite brunch beverages: mimosas, bloodys and Prosecco. Starring dishes on the cold buffet will include caviar, and a raw bar and ceviche bar (shrimp, tuna, oysters and conch). But if mom needs something to warm her up from the inside out, the hot buffet will feature regular faves like omelettes and Eggs Benedict, along with appearances from steak frites (flat iron steak, shoe-string fries and red wine sauce), grilled Corvina paired with salsa verde, and baked rigatoni. For $55 per person ($22 for children six through 15), all this can be yours from the hours of noon to 3 p.m.

But if your mama subscribes more to a green way of life than the modernista spin, Altamare on Lincoln Road has created an organic, farm-fresh dish for the day, which will be available from 5 to 11 p.m. The Raw Taster ($12) features scallop ceviche, tuna tartare, Kumamoto oyster and sheepshead carpaccio alongside a complimentary Borek Farms heirloom tomato sorbet. The Lincoln Road resto celebrated its new space back in February, with designs from the creative genius behind Mynt and Shore Club, and a chef who can include Michael’s Genuine on a resume.
