What’s Haute at the Tribeca Film Festival?

It’s another one of our favorite times of the year in NYC, meaning that the Tribeca Film Festival has arrived once again. This project from Robert De Niro has captivated theater buffs since its genesis nine years ago. For the 2010 edition, the festival premiered with Shrek Forever After on Wednesday night at Zeigefeld Theatre. The talk around the water cooler was all about 3-D, a first for the series. The animated movie will be released for general audiences on May 22.

For the next week, plus a few days, aficionados of cinematic art will descend upon lower Manhattan to catch their faves out of 132 entries, and the big news this year is that the festival will not only be showing in venues around Tribeca, but will also send films to on demand outlets and computers.

Premiere The Birth Of Big Air, a documentary about extreme sports superstar Mat Hoffman, also featuring extreme sports fanatic Johnny Knoxville and Academy Award nominee Spike Jonze.
