Scott Rothstein’s Luxe Autos and Yachts Go To Auction

The summer months are approaching, and that could only mean one thing: that the auction of Scott Rothstein’s luxe toys is quickly approaching. Whether you’re a serious buyer, or just love to ogle at opulent cars and yachts, May and June are for you. Here’s a roster of the joys that can be yours, if the price is right:

The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco Welcomes Executive Chef Patrick Callarec

If you didn’t know that The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco has been conducting an extensive search to fill the role of executive chef, you aren’t alone. Yesterday we got word that the search is over, and the lucky winner of the much sought-after leadership position is none other than Chef Patrick Callarec, who hails from France originally, and Maui, where he has spent the last 10 years.

Henry T. Segerstrom to Receive the Carnegie Hall Medal of Excellence

There are few achievements in life that could measure up to being named by Carnegie Hall as the next Medal of Excellence award winner. On June 7, Henry T. Segerstrom, developer of the luxe retail venue South Coast Plaza and founding chairman of the Orange County Performing Arts Center/the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, will know just what it feels like to claim such an accolade.

Diane von Furstenberg and Lisa Adams Unite For Dress For Success

It’s well into spring, and therefore time for a little feng shui in the form of some good, old-fashioned spring cleaning. But we at Haute Living don’t condone boring, ordinary cleaning that involves carting those old t-shirts and jeans to your nearest Goodwill. No, we do spring cleaning like we do everything else: with style and flair. Two women who’ve certainly got a lot of that are Diane von Furstenberg and Lisa Adams of LA Closet Design, and they’re putting all that fashion know-how into a fun, fresh, and philanthropic event.

Avjet Corporation: Trailblazers of Luxury Aviation

As someone who has a long-standing fear of flying, I will admit that Avjet Corporation has the potential to convert me into an avid-jetsetter. The unofficial king of the skies when it comes to luxury aviation, Avjet has become a formidable presence in its competitive, high-end industry based largely on its unparalleled customer service and safety rates, as well as its control over one of the largest executive jet charter fleets of designer aircraft like the Boeing Business Jet, Global Express, Gulfstream 550, 450, 200 and 150 aircraft.

Padma Lakshmi Hosts Second Annual Blossom Ball To Benefit Endometriosis

Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi, Tamer Seckin, MD, and Comedian Heather McDonald will join forces May 20 at The New York Public Library to host the second annual Blossom Ball benefiting The Endometriosis Foundation of America. Amidst all the festivities is a serious message that both Lakshmi and Seckin have been working to bring to the forefront of the collective consciousness for some time now. Lakshmi herself suffers from endometriosis, and after being diagnosed and treated by renowned specialist Seckin, the two came together to form The Endometriosis Foundation of America.

Cuban Cigar Maker Alejandro Robaina Dies at Age 91

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a legend. Alejandro Robaina, the famous Cuban cigar maker, died last week from a battle with cancer that was diagnosed last year. He was 91 years old. Robaina was the only Cuban cigar grower to have a cigar named in his honor, Vegas Robaina Cigars. Despite becoming the unofficial Ambassador for Cuba’s tobacco and cigar industry, Robaina remained humble and true to his roots as a tobacco grower.

It Doesn’t Get Much Hauter Than Polo on Miami Beach

Miami is giving Prince William a royal run for his money when it comes to the sport he’s known for. The Miami Beach Polo World Cup is currently underway near The Setai, running from April 22 to April 25, and the traditional “sport of kings” has been given a Miami makeover. The notorious South Beach shores are playing host to an international lineup, with talented and top polo teams flocking to the Magic City from exotic locales like Argentina, Brazil, and Germany, all in the name of scoring the coveted La Martina Trophy.

Fit for a King: The Haute 5 Presidential Suites in San Francisco

There are certain occasions—say Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day, New Year’s Eve, President’s Day, or basically any day that you feel like pampering is in order—when merely booking a suite in a luxury hotel just won’t do. On such celebratory days, a call to go above and beyond the status quo is in order. For times like these, a ride to the top floor of your favorite luxury resort, where the posh and private Presidential and Penthouse Suites are tucked away, is the only true way to embrace the luxury lifestyle.
