A Week Full of Philanthropy in NYC

It’s going to be one busy week for New York Society Editor Rachel Heller. On Tuesday night, she’ll be attending and collecting details from the eighth annual Can-Do Awards Dinner, where Emeril Lagasse will receive top honors. She’ll follow that up on Thursday night, April 22, at The Pierre, for the New York Academy of Medicine’s 16th annual gala. And finally, Heller will round out a weekend of fetes and treats with a Monday night appearance, on April 26, at the 2010 NYU Langone Medical Center’s Violet Ball.

Fundraising at the Waldorf Astoria…and Maybe More

New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo’s big April fundraiser is drawing near, and the anticipation of it all has the press and politicos talking. Could April 28 be the big day when the Dem announces his bid for the Governor’s mansion? Though most have suspected for eons that he will throw his hat into the ring at some point, the approaching fundraising fete at the Waldorf Astoria has the town talking.

Celebrate Fashion and Ballet With The San Francisco Ballet Company, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Michael Kors

What happens when the glamorous and beautiful worlds of fashion and ballet collide? You get the super-successful San Francisco Ballet Auxiliary Fashion Show, which this year is featuring Michael Kors’ stunning Fall/Winter 2010 collection, fresh off the New York runway. Although we covered this exciting event on HauteLiving.com back in January—when it was just announced that the Project Runway judge and visionary American icon would be the featured designer—the date is fast approaching, and we wanted to remind you to reserve your place now for this cant-miss occasion.

Happy Anniversary to Hakkasan at Fontainebleau

Birthdays, anniversaries, religious and federal holidays, Grandparents Day, Secretaries Day, or even, Best Friends Day—whatever the occasion, we really need little cause for celebration here in Miami. With this kind of mentality, when we get word that there is a legitimate anniversary fete taking place, it’s even more of a reason to round up the troops and make some fancy dinner reservations.

Former President Bill Clinton Descends on Miami for the Weekend

It was a big Bill Clinton weekend here in Miami. He started out his Friday night with a showing at LIV at the Fontainebleau, where, as Lesley Abravanel reports, all security measures were taken to ensure that a good (and wholesome) time was had by all. What better way to wrap up an early eve at the Miami Beach luxury resort than with some of the divine treats that come courtesy of Scarpetta’s own Scott Conant? But it wasn’t all about the parties, private dinners, and luxury venues for the former president.

Cool by Name and Reputation: The Only Way to Get a Custom Golf Fit

A great golf game depends on many factors that you cannot control: weather, wind, course, and your level of frustration as the day goes on. One thing you can control is your set of clubs, and the only way to ensure the optimal choice is to be fitted for a custom set. Thank goodness here in Scottsdale we have the luxury of stopping in at the state-of-the-art custom design showroom at Cool Clubs.

Nordstrom Opens at Fashion Island In Newport Beach

What kind of island could make fashionistas jump at the chance to be stranded on its shores, with or without Johnny Depp? The kind with a Nordstrom, promising tantalizingly clothes from luxury brands like Valentino, Burberry, Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana, Michael Kors, Jimmy Choo, Diane von Furstenberg, Halston Heritage, Alice + Olivia, and Elizabeth and James, along with exclusive new collections by St. John, Elie Tahari, and Marc Jacobs.

Organic Fashions from LIV GRN, Just in Time for Earth Day

Have you heard? The latest fashion must-have isn’t that Balenciaga motorcycle bag, or even those Alexander McQueen wing-embroidered platform sandals. No, the latest trend in fashion is organic clothing, and one of the coolest things to come out of the “Go-Green” movement is eco-friendly clothing line, LIV GRN.

Prada Sets Up Shop in South Coast Plaza

You can never have too much Prada, and luckily the luxury label is making this easy by expanding its presence across California, with a new store opening in Costa Mesa. Fashionistas will merely have to pop over to the South Coast Plaza, where they will be able to stock up on all the bags, shoes, accessories, and collections of ready-to-wear that their little fashion-obsessed hearts could desire.
