Nordstrom Opens at Fashion Island In Newport Beach
What kind of island could make fashionistas jump at the chance to be stranded on its shores, with or without Johnny Depp or Tom Hanks? The kind with a Nordstrom, promising tantalizing clothes from luxury brands like Valentino, Burberry, Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana, Michael Kors, Jimmy Choo, Diane von Furstenberg, Halston Heritage, Alice + Olivia, and Elizabeth and James, along with exclusive new collections by St. John, Elie Tahari, and Marc Jacobs.
This island isn’t located in the Caribbean, but actually in Newport Beach, California, and you already know it as Fashion Island, the mecca for the style obsessed. It’s Orange County’s premier coastal shopping and dining experience, and we’re sorry to say you’ll have to share it with the more than 13 million people who visit it annually. And that number is sure to increase now, with the addition of a bi-level, 138,000-square-foot Nordstrom, which opened on Friday to the grateful cries of those who appreciate one-of-a-kind customer service and unimaginable fashion. “We are proud to welcome Nordstrom to Fashion Island,” says Keith Eyrich, president, Irvine Company Retail Properties. “As one of the country’s most outstanding retailers, Nordstrom elevates the Fashion Island shopping experience to a new level. The Nordstrom opening marks an exciting milestone in Fashion Island’s 43-year history, as well as a $100 million reinvestment which will go towards new architectural enhancements, pristine new fountains, outdoor seating spaces and more. OK, so it’s not really the deserted island you had in mind, but trust us—this is so much better.
