Los Angeles may be solely known as an “industry” town, but the truth of the matter is that this city boasts some serious cultural hot spots, especially by way of chic cuisine. Considering that the city is melting-pot of different nationalities, Los Angeles features the best in fusion cuisine, not to mention farmer’s market fresh produce.

I’m always on the hunt for new restaurants, gastro pubs and cafes. So, when I heard that Real Restaurant Group along with Chef Micah Wexler, Michael Kassar, David Koral and Matt Bendik planned to open Mezze this December, I clapped my hands with glee and saved-the-date in my rolodex.

Located on a busy stretch of North La Cienega, Mezze will feature a rustic-meets-refined design, crafted by Waldo Fernandez, with hand-painted tiles and Venetian plaster walls mixed with raw organic materials. An open chef’s counter and kitchen will add to the airy ambiance of Mezze and give diners a peek at Mezze’s wood-burning oven.

Which brings us to the food. According to Mezze’s PR outreach, Mezze’s menu will offer a mélange of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavors while incorporating seasonal local ingredients. A variety of small plates to be sampled by your dining party are a cornerstone of Mezze’s menu. Expect to find regional staples such as flatbreads and dishes seasoned with labneh and preserved lemons. Personally, I can’t wait to taste the yellowtail crudo with toasted pine nuts and pomegranate gremolata though I must remember to save room for the wood-oven farm chicken encrusted with that holy grail of spice condiments, za’atar.

Oh, and the best part about Mezze? The hours of operation. Mezze plans to serve until midnight, giving late-night diners a place to party. I mean eat.
