Just a Few Ways to Help Support Breast Cancer Awareness Month in South Florida
All over the country, business, hotels, restaurants and stores are finding ways to take part in Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Here’s a look at just a couple things you can do to help the support the cause this month in South Florida.
Sip & Spa Thursdays at The Palms Miami Beach
Every Thursday in October from 6 to 10 p.m., Essemsoa Lounge at The Palms Miami Beach will offer a happy hour featuring food and drink specials along with its Breast Cancer Awareness initiatives. From 6 to 7 p.m., Sip & Spa guests will be entitled to the pink Chandon Rosé Brut station.
The Palms Spa is also getting in on the action by offering special half off spa treatments between 4 and 9 p.m., along with selling Aveda’s limited edition Pink Ribbon Hand Relief moisturizer during happy hour. A portion of the proceeds, along with those from the spa’s pink nail polish sales, will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
W Fort Lauderdale Hosts Second Annual Lipstick Lounge
This Thursday, Oct. 7, the W Fort Lauderdale will host its second annual Lipstick Lounge, an event dedicated to helping “kiss” breast cancer goodbye. The evening will feature cocktails, cosmetics, and even a “Project Runway”-style presentation of designs from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. Bliss Spa will be there too, providing complimentary treatments and samples to guests while, makeup artists will do makeovers. Apricot Lane Boutique Miami’s Metallic Pink Humanity Bracelets
For the month of October, Apricot Lane Miami will be selling unique pink Humanity bracelets at their store at The Falls. The leather and metallic pink cuff (called the Come Together bracelet) features crystals and studs and has already become a celebrity favorite. Fifty percent of the profits from the sale of the bracelets will be donated directly to The Breast Cancer Society to help local women and their families who are suffering from the disease.
The Biltmore Hotel’s Dinner for the Cure
On Oct. 27, The Biltmore in Coral Gables will host a special dinner at its own Fontana Restaurant. Guests will enjoy a four-course meal, wine pairing and live jazz while participating in a silent auction with proceeds going toward Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The auction will include a Biltmore weekend getaway, Sunday Champagne brunch, tee-time and golf lessons, various spa treatments and other locally donated items. In addition, the Biltmore Spa will donate $10 from every 70-minute massage, facial or wrap that is booked in the month of October to the cause.
