With the ushering in of new Creative Directors at the most coveted of fashion houses, we are fully living amongst a new dawn and age when it comes to the fashion industry. After Mathieu Blazy debuted Chanel’s latest (and highly talked about) collection in a New York City subway station, Gucci was next to spark conversation amongst industry insiders with Demna’s sophomore debut for the House–one specifically paying homage to the beloved Tom Ford era–for the Pre-Fall 2026 collection.

One thing Demna is consistently bringing to the forefront are Gucci’s most well-known and iconic codes. Tom Ford was without a doubt one of the House’s most renowned Creative Directors, and Demna is not losing sight of that, but rather emphasizing it while bringing his own sense of perspective to the collection. The Pre-Fall collection sets the tone for the lead-up to his first runway show for the House in February during Milan Fashion Week.

We see him honing in on ’70s-inspired moments like Gucci’s signature GG monogram and web stripes, while pairing them with a minimalist-like approach reminiscent of Tom Ford’s 1990s era. The collection is presented as a lookbook shot by Demna himself, envisioning an imaginary Gucci show. Pre-Fall is a continuation of “Generation Gucci,” which represents his ongoing research into archival and visual codes across the different eras of the brand’s history, seen through his lens.

These elevated, multi-faceted looks seem to take the wearer from desk to dinner with suit-like outfits mixed in with vintage-reminiscent party pieces. The looks open with lightweight tailoring in an archival silk faille highlighting the 2-piece suits featuring legging fit pants and the ultimate Gucci pencil skirt. We see everyday, yet chic wear like minimalistic jeans with a seamless construction. As for outerwear, textured coats have an ease and lightness to them cut from pieces of shearling with silk, goat hair, and feathers, lined in intricate patterns on top of sheer bases and linings.

As for the party pieces, we see underwear-inspired garments worn with silk blouses, draped miniskirts with matching tops, and minimal gowns in fluid jersey and silk chiffon. Footwear is defined by sleek lines through Valigeria-inspired ballerinas and classic loafers dotted with metal spikes. We see a Lunetta Phone+ shoulder bag in the classic monogrammed canvas alongside a Jackie 1961 reimagined as a compact rectilinear shape softened in calfskin and croc, while the Dionysus takes a new angular and edgy silhouette.
