These Were The Hautest Shows Of New York Fashion Week
It’s safe to say fashion is officially back in the city, and the designers are pulling out all the stops for this season’s New York Fashion Week. From star-studded crowds to iconic designers debuting and returning to New York to never-been-done-before runways, this week is nothing short of style, drama, and all of the excitement that NYFW typically brings.
Legendary American designer Ralph Lauren kicked off the week in true Ralph fashion with an A-Lister-packed runway show out East in Bridgehampton, complete with vintage automobiles and equestrian riders wearing crisp white polos, naturally. Celebrities like Jude Law, Laura Dern, Kasey Musgraves, and more sat in the front row as they watched iconic models like Christy Turlington-Burns and her daughter Gracie debut Ralph’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, which featured his signature, expertly tailored outerwear, polished knitwear, and chic evening wear.
Arguably, one of the most iconic moments of the week thus far was French fashion house Alaïa, bringing their catwalk from Paris to Manhattan. This is the first time the fashion house has presented a collection in New York since 1982, a historical return for the brand. New York was home to Mr. Alaïa’s very first store and a city where current Creative Director Pieter Mulier lived for many years. Becoming the first fashion label to stage a runway show in the Guggenheim Museum, the evening brought out stars like Rihanna, Naomi Campbell, Amber Valletta, and more. Mulier’s Winter-Spring 2025 collection had an emphasis on movement with sculptural pieces like dresses and coats that clung and coiled to the models as they strutted down the runway, skin-tight bandeau bras paired with ruffled and asymmetrical skirts, and stunning pleated silk taffeta moments.
Virgil Abloh founded Off-White, another brand that made its way from Paris to debut its Spring/Summer 2025 collection at New York Fashion Week. Creative Director Ib Kamara transformed Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 2 into an amplified basketball court where the team showcased their “DUTY-FREE” Spring/Summer 2025 collection of sportswear-inspired ready-to-wear. Nanushka Creative Director Sandra Sándor made her return to New York Fashion with the brand’s first-ever runway show to celebrate the brand’s 20th anniversary. Launching with a newly revamped identity, Sándor debuted a women’s and menswear collection titled ‘Paper,’ that paid homage to the past and the future of the Budapest label, complete with fringe dresses, striped knitted micro shorts, silk scarves, and their signature vegan leather accessories. Tommy Hilfiger showcased a nautical-themed Spring/Summer 2025 collection aboard the Colin Jost and Pete Davidson-owned Staten Island Ferry. The boat matched Hilfiger’s theme of plaids, pinstripes, and cable knit sweaters.
New York successfully kicked off 2024 ‘Fashion Month’ with all eyes now on London Fashion Week.
