What Made Him Haute: Not only the highest paid player on the Yankees, but in 2008 Rodriguez earned a reputation for being the highest paid professional baseball player in history.

What Makes Him Haute Now: To add to his “highest paid” titles, Sports Illustrated recently named Rodriguez no. 5 in its Fortunate 50 list of highest earning athletes of 2010. In addition, the multi-millionaire has been making gossip magazine headlines for his public relationship with actress Cameron Diaz.

Yet perhaps the famed athlete’s greatest victory occurred yesterday evening. During the first inning of the Yankees’ 5 – 1 triumph over the Toronto Blue Jays, Rodriguez became the youngest of only seven other players in MLB history to reach 600 home runs. With a grueling 46 times up to bat being just one home run short of an even 600, it was about time for A-Rod to reach this career milestone.
