Fans Line Up for the Lady Gaga Concert and Ghost Bar Afterparty
After Lady Gaga reportedly garnered more Facebook friends than the leader of the free world, it was obvious there is just no stopping her. This couldn’t have been more evident last night (Lady Gaga’s second appearance this week at the American Airline Center) when thousands of fans paraded out in garb that would make the queens of RuPaul’s Drag Race blush. Sky-high platforms, glitter masks, body paint and, my personal favorite, a boy wrapped only in caution tape, were just a few of the items one would see adorned by Gaga’s “Little Monsters,” her term of endearment for the costumed masses.
I skipped out on the concert but headed to Ghost Bar, the proclaimed afterparty hotspot where the Lady herself was rumored to show up for some cocktailing and commingling (as of 1:30 a.m. when I left, her curtained VIP section was still empty, however.) There were some stars sighted at Ghost, namely Wilmer Valderrama of That 70’s Show fame who is in town to promote the official screening of his new film The Dry Land with costar America Ferrera. The red carpet screening was also held last night at the Angelika Theatre to kick off the Maya Indie Film Series.
Sure, a lot of glitz and glamor, but the best part of the night was meeting Bob and Sarah in the elevator on the way down the 30-something stories of the W. Bob could be Lady Gaga’s biggest fan, his wife said, when I noticed he was donning a Lady Gaga t-shirt. I don’t want to speculate, but I want to say Bob’s ballpark age is 75. They were the cutest little couple, and they had nothing but sweet things to say about all these freaks and weirdos head-banging in day-glo onesies next to us.
OK new goal: Someday, I hope to be happily married, elderly and obsessed with some 24 year-old maniacal musician.
