Quick Hits: A Look at Faena’s Debut of Biennale of Moving Images Exhibition

The arrival of the Biennale of Moving Images, a storied biennale from Geneva that began in 1985 for video art, comes just as Faena is debuting exciting new parts of the Faena District. The show kicks off with a reception on Thursday, April 13, 2017 and runs through April 30. The show features video art installations and full-length film screenings. While the show will be open during the week Wednesday through Sunday 3-9 p.m. for people to pop in and explore the short videos by artists like Jillian Mayer and Kerry Tribe, scheduled screenings will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings throughout the exhibition in the Faena Hotel Screening Room, as well as under the stars on the Faena Bazaar Patio, a part of the complex few have yet seen.You can reserve your seats through here.

The Biennale of Moving Images shown at Faena, is a selection of the larger show from the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genéve, which is one of the first shows of its kind in Europe.

Photo Credit: Yuri AncaraniXimena Caminos, Artistic Director and Chair of Faena Art, expressed pride at partnering with this biennale, which she points out is unique in its “non-curated” format. “Our collaboration with the Biennale of Moving Images is ultimately a form of addressing presence, time, physicality and duration, which reoccur as organizing principles in all that we do.”

After leaving Miami, the show will go on to Faena Arts Center Bueno Aires on May 23^rd through May 30^th.
