Gucci’s New Paris Flagship Debuts a Whole New Store Concept — Here’s What’s Inside 56 Avenue Montaigne
Gucci opens Avenue Montaigne flagship in Paris, debuting its new store concept inspired by the Milanese palazzo, with a private Appartamento.
Gucci has chosen Paris to debut its next chapter in retail. The House has opened a new flagship at 56 Avenue Montaigne — the first expression of a store concept that will be progressively introduced across Gucci’s global network. Spanning 1,480 square meters across four floors, the boutique opens to the public today, October 30.

Those who followed the House in September will recognize the idea. The concept was previewed through The Store Show, presented in Milan on September 25, and Avenue Montaigne now crystallizes those runway-set ideas into a permanent space — rooted, Gucci says, in its Italian heritage, contemporary culture and approach to client experience. It arrives as Demna’s vision for the House takes shape well beyond the catwalk (see our take on Demna’s Gucci 2026 runway).
The blueprint reads like an architecture lecture worth attending. The spatial logic borrows from the Italian Renaissance palazzo, while the aesthetic is pure Milan: the rationalist architecture of the 1930s, in the spirit of Piero Portaluppi, lends proportion, rigor and monumentality, and touches of Milanese interiors from the 1950s to the 1970s add warmth, craftsmanship and a distinctly modern character.

Inside, the store unfolds as a progression of interconnected rooms, moving from monumental openness to intimacy and from display to exploration. Each room holds its own atmosphere while belonging to one continuous narrative — and the journey culminates in Gucci Appartamento, a private space on the second floor designed for a more exclusive experience.
The materials do much of the talking. Ceppo di Gré, a stone deeply tied to Milan’s built landscape, meets travertine in different tones, Emperador and Breccia marble, Victoria Regia green stone and bronzite. Walnut, zebrano, teak and lacquered surfaces bring warmth, while terrazzo and pigmented concrete add a contemporary edge, with each room defined by its own combination.

Perhaps the boldest move is how the merchandise is shown — or, at first, not shown. Collections are embedded within the architecture rather than simply arranged in it, guided by principles of concealment and revelation, so pieces emerge through a sequence of encounters. Furniture, objects, artworks and product coexist in one shared environment, making discovery part of the shopping itself. Under President and CEO Francesca Bellettini and the artistic direction of Demna, Gucci frames the opening as the first chapter of its retail evolution — and, conveniently for Paris shoppers, it sits on the same storied avenue where neighbors like Loewe Casa have staked out their own visions.

This isn’t a renovation — it’s a template. Avenue Montaigne is the prototype for how Gucci under Demna and Francesca Bellettini wants every store to feel: less display case, more Milanese home, with product you have to discover.
