Haute 100 MIA: Pitbull To Executive Produce Miami Drama Series
While there are great television shows that are set in the steamy, tropical surroundings and cultural crossroads of Miami, not many showcase the wealthy community. However, Haute 100 lister Armando Christian Pérez, better known as Pitbull, has plans to change that.
According to Deadline, Fox is currently developing a drama series about the wealthy community in the Magic City from writer Sascha Penn, who has worked on Starz’s “Power” and “Survivor’s Remorse.” The Miami native will executive produce the show.
The network purchased the show, titled 305, from Endemol Shine Studios, with a script commitment plus penalty. It will follow a young teen name Willy who relocates to Miami to live with his uncle, a celebrity chef, and attend the wealthiest private school.
Other big names slated to be part of the project includes Jonathan Levine, who has directing credits on “Warm Bodies,” “50/50” and “The Wacknes,” He also created “Rush” on USA. David Ortiz is slated to be a co-executive produce along Pitbull.
Yesterday, Pitbull debuted his highly anticipated seven-show residency at Axis at Planet Hollywood.
According to the Las Vegas Sun, “It’s an extraordinary bilingual performance in English and Spanish, and most amazing of all is that after nearly two hours of frenzied and frantic stage maneuvers, he’s not the slight bit winded or out of breath. He has six of the sexiest Latino ladies as his dance team shaking their booties to the delight of fans. I thought they all looked like Jennifer Lopez from where I was sitting.”
In addition, Mr. 305 has also collaborated with Gloria and Emilio Estefan to create “We’re All Mexicans,” a song and video to honor Hispanic Heritage. The song was completed in two weeks and is being released on Monday, Sept. 28th. The A-list line up also includes Wyclef Jean, Taboo (from Black Eyed Peas), Carlos Santana, and Carlos Vives. The video will also feature other celebrities like Kathy Griffin, Whoopi Goldberg, Eva Longoria, Carlos Ponce, Perez Hilton, and Guillermo Rodriguez.
