Fashion East Reveals Spring 2016 Lineup
Fashion East, the iconic London organisation that support emerging fashion talent in the capital, has revealed the three designer set to be in the spotlight this September. The occasion is extra special for the enterprise, which was founded by Lulu Kennedy in 2000, since this season will mark its 15th anniversary.
Caitlin Price, Richard Malone and This is The Uniform have been selected by Fashion East and will all host presentations on September 19 in London. “All three designers are strong-minded and their girl/woman knows what she’s about. I’m delighted to be working with them,” said Kennedy, who in the past has been known to kick-start the careers of designers such as Jonathan Saunders, Marques’ Almeida, Meadham Kirchhoff and Simone Rocha. All three labels will be showcasing womenswear offerings, with Topshop acting as the main sponsor of the scheme—something it’s been doing since 2003. Following her first stint with Fashion East back in February, Price will now be showing a second collection with the initiative. Her debut designs were a collection that fused 19th century clothing details, such as rosettes, with sportswear. Malone and This is Uniform, meanwhile, will be showing with Fashion East for the first time, although both already have impressive achievements under their belts. After graduating from Central Saint Martins’ BA fashion course, Malone went on to win the LVMH Grand Prix scholarship in 2013. This is Uniform is managed and designed by Jenna Young, who graduated in fine art textiles from Goldsmiths University in London.
Caitlin Price joined Mary Benson and Ed Marler back in February for Fashion East’s first showcase of the year at London Fashion Week. Both Price and Benson held presentations, whilst in an unusual move, Marler held a runway show. “We’ll also be showing Ed’s second collection in an intimate salon show – all under one roof at the incredible London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts, one of my favorite places in London,” said Kennedy at the time. “The team and our panel all feel strongly that young designers need to showcase their collections in the way that suits them best, so this season instead of the usual group runway show I’m excited that we’re accommodating our two brilliant newcomers with presentations that can really draw guests into their world,” she added.
