The Bal Harbour Shops have been well established as Miami’s ultimate luxury shopping destination since the 1960’s, with shops such as Alexander McQueen, Chanel, and Stella McCartney, among countless others. However, the founder and owner of Bal Harbour Stanley Whitman sees another blossoming hotspot for high-end sartorial adventures: Brickell.

In a joint venture with Swire Properties, a Hong-Kong based developer, the two forces will join together to convert the future Brickell CityCentre into a high-end retail space, which will cost about $1.05 billion.

Whitman said of Brickell recently: “Our interest in the Brickell CityCentre is very simple: Bal Harbour was the only location available to get this huge tourist business, but now we have tourists coming from the Mandarin Oriental and Four Seasons in Brickell. There’s no change to the concept, it’s just a bigger market, and Latin America and other parts of the world have gotten very wealthy.”
