The 6 Best Wineries in the Hamptons & on the North Fork to Visit This Season
From a barrel-cellar flight at Macari to RGNY's hands-on harvest on October 24, six Long Island estates make the case for an October tasting day.
Harvest is the best time to visit the best wineries on the North Fork and in the Hamptons. The vines are heavy, the tasting rooms have room to breathe again after summer, and the East End’s maritime light turns golden by mid-afternoon. These six estates, two on the South Fork and four on the North Fork, are open now and worth a fall Saturday. Go midweek if you can; on harvest weekends, book ahead.

Wölffer’s tasting room sits on a rise above its vineyards and the rolling Sagaponack landscape. It is open year-round, seven days a week, with reserved seated tastings, small bites and charcuterie, plus vineyard and winery tours for anyone curious about East End terroir. When a wedding takes over the tasting room, the Wine Stand around the corner on Montauk Highway picks up the slack. In October, a glass of rosé on the hill is the quintessential Hamptons off-season pleasure.

Channing Daughters, on Scuttlehole Road, is the South Fork’s thinking person’s winery. Its signature flight puts five very different wines side by side, framed as five expressions of place, and every bottle is also poured by the glass. The snack menu is pure East End: local cheeses, aged salami, olives and a fresh-caught fish dip. Take the flight out to the lawn while the vineyard view holds the late light, and book a table on weekends.

Macari’s Mattituck tasting room sits at the edge of a nearly 500-acre vineyard and farm, and every tasting is guided by a Macari wine educator. Book the Barrel Cellar Experience: five top wines poured in the wood-beamed working cellar, with cheese, charcuterie and a freshly made local baguette, for $75 per guest. Larger groups can take the rosé-themed Private Tasting Suite for a chef-prepared lunch. Tastings are by appointment, so plan ahead on harvest weekends.

Bedell is one of the North Fork’s polished addresses, and its Tour & Taste is the way to see it. The three-hour reserved table includes a sparkling welcome, a dedicated pourer, a one-hour behind-the-scenes cellar tour, an estate flight and a curated cheese and charcuterie platter. Couples can book Just the Two of Us, built around a bottle of sparkling rosé and access to the cellar for photos. Reservations aren’t required for groups of up to 15.

Founded in 1983, Paumanok makes estate-grown wines on Main Road in Aquebogue. The portfolio runs from Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc to Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, with newer plantings of Pinot Noir, Malbec and Melon de Bourgogne. Start with the Chenin Blanc, an unusual grape for Long Island and the one to take home. Outdoor seating runs through November, weather permitting, and walk-ins of up to seven are welcome.

RGNY has turned harvest into an event series, and the date to circle is Saturday, October 24. That day, guests join the vineyard team to hand-pick grapes for the 2026 vintages, learn about its sustainable winemaking and finish with wine, bites and a toast. The season closes on November 7 with a Día de los Muertos celebration of music and ceremonial fire. Harvest-season tasting room hours run until 7 p.m. on Saturdays.
