David Beckham’s exploration into bringing a Major League Soccer team has generated so much excitement that Mayor Carlos Gimenez gave Becks the key to the county during a tour of Florida International University. At a meeting at the university, officials urged Beckham to help bring a new sports franchise to Miami, leaving him feeling positive about the chances of club ownership in Miami. In an interview with CBS 4 Beckham said, “I think Miami fans are very passionate about their sports and very passionate about winning and of course it would have to be a success but it’s definitely exciting.”

Beckham then visited two potential stadiums, Sun Life Stadium and Florida International University’s stadium, accompanied by Marcelo Claure, Bolivian born billionaire and owner of Bolivian club Bolivar. Claure is a member of the board of trustees of FIU and is interested in teaming up with Beckham in owning a new franchise in Miami.

The former pro also enjoyed some downtime at Soho Beach House and Zuma this weekend. To cap off a trip where he has attended Game 5 at the American Airlines Arena with Claure and later hit Hyde inside the arena. Beckham finished off that same night at LIV nightclub where he signed the LIV ‘Wall of Fame’.
