Kevin Youkilis, former Boston Red Sox star turned New York Yankee, is looking for a downtown apartment to kick up his heels. The 33-year-old third baseman signed a $12-million one-year deal to fill in for Alex Rodriguez (while he’s recuperating from injury) for the first half of the 2013 Major League Baseball season.

According to The Real Deal, the Ohio native is looking for an apartment in the $20,000 to $30,000 rage to rent for the duration of his contract with the Yankees. Though we can’t blame Youkilis for wanting to live in one of Manhattan’s trendy downtown neighborhoods, it’s unusual for Yankee players to live so far away from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Youkilis has reportedly enlisted the help of Brown Harris Stevens broker Leslie Mintzer in his search.
