
Yacht Owners Flee Italian Waters; Boating Industry Loses €200 Million
Due to scare tactics tax inspectors have enforced to weed out tax evasion, Italy has lost 10 to 15 percent of its boating customers.
In the midst of summer, Italy is missing an integral part of their culture and economy. About 30,000 yachts have fled Italian waters this year, totaling about €200 million in lost revenue, according to the Italian Association of Marinas Assomarinas.
