Barceloneta Residents Fear the Superyacht Culture

Maybe it’s the fact that the largest private yacht in the entire world is in and out of the old port of Barcelona, but the superyacht culture has left Barceloneta residents in fear.

Roman Abramovich’s 163-meter yacht is just one example of the luxe watercrafts that wade in and out of the port, which is located on the outskirts of an ultra traditional working-class community. Now, a British private investment fund has taken the reins of the port area with one thing on their minds: megayachts. The firm is hoping to attain an extended license, giving them the chance to transform Marina Port Veil into the luxury yacht community’s stomping grounds.
