Moscow Easter Festival in Full Swing Across the Nation
The 11th annual Moscow Easter Festival kicked off yesterday. The nationwide festival will hold concerts in towns and cities across Russia and the Ukraine focusing on the music of Segei Prokofiev, a prominent 20th century composer.
Religious and academic choirs from Russia, Ukraine, Hungary, Latvia, Israel, Bulgaria, Belarus and Germany will partake in the festivities at over 18 cities. The festival wraps up on May 9.
The Cathedral of Chris the Savior in Moscow shared a performance of Stabat Mater, a 13th century Latin text, by the Metropolitan Hilarion on Monday.
Founded by the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra’s Valery Gergiev, the majority of the concerts will be charity events with all the funds proceeding to low-income families.
