London Station Made Famous By Harry Potter Books, King’s Cross, Gets Major Transformation
The home of Platform 9 & 3/4 received a makeover in what rail bosses describe as the biggest transformation in its 160-year history.
The station had an allotted £500 million to convert King’s Cross into a ‘transport-super-hub.’ The giant latice structure, which was completed in time for the London Summer Olympics, was designed for the increasingly large numbers of passengers to move freely. It was unveiled Monday.
The next stage of the plan is to transform the front of the structure in an overhaul that harks back to the station’s Victorian history. In addition to the redevelopment, King’s Cross will add a branch of healthy fast food chain Leon and a new Yalla Yalla restaurant.
As far as the platform J.K. Rowling made famous, the Platform 9 & 3/4 display has been moved to the new concourse, making the transformation even sweeter.
