The latest showstopper in Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2012 women’s bag collection the is the Coquille D’ Oeuf Minaudiere, a couture bag that retails for $101,000, and is considered the most desirable object and a must-have for fashionistas. It was put together using 12,500 pieces of eggshells and craftmanship took more than 600 hours to create the couture bag.
The design launch for the bag symbolizes the celebrated partnership between Louis Vuitton and creative director Marc Jacobs. At the Musée Les Arts Décoratifs in Paris over the weekend, an exhibition reinstated Vuitton and Jacobs’ insights into the history of fashion while also focusing on the advent of artistic talent and craftsmanship, technological advances, styles and artistic collaborations. The exhibition attempts to portray the genius of two of fashion’s greatest geniuses from different centuries.
