Russia’s First-Ever Snow City Opens In Moscow

The city within Russia made entirely of ice and snow, called Sokolniki Park, Moroz City (Frost city), took more than 500 blocks of ice to construct, 1,000 blocks of ice and 100 architects, sculptors and artists to construct.

Despite delays due to rain and temperatures, the ice city welcome a plethora of visitors on its opening weekend. Guests can play on working ice instruments, wander through an ice maze, plunder down the ice slide or pretend to be locked up in the ice jail.

After sunset, all the structures in the city are illuminated in soft light. With a climb to the ice lighthouse, visitors are rewarded with a spectacular view of the light festival.

The most popular feature of the festival is the ice hotel, where guests can relax at the bar where the hotel architects lend out fur coats free-of-charge to keep the patrons warm.
