Legendary rock band Chicago was recently revealed as the headliner for this year’s InterContinental® Miami Make-A-Wish® Ball. Each year, the anticipated Ball brings an extraordinarily memorable experience to the guests with an energetic, live performance and this year is no exception as the beloved band will grace the stage at the InterContinental® Miami. In light of the upcoming performance, Haute Living chatted with singer/keyboardist Robert Lamm and trumpet player Lee Loughnane to get a sneak peek at what’s to come from the mini-concert, how they got involved and more. Here’s what you can look forward to this weekend:
Robert Lamm:
HL: What can guests expect to see that night?
RL: Guests at the Ball will see and hear Chicago perform their Greatest Hits. The only variable will be the number of hits time will permit!
HL: What are you most looking forward to that evening?
RL: Perhaps meeting and congratulating the people who make the “Wishes” a reality and perhaps the recipients of their Wish!
HL: How has your music evolved since you first began playing music together?
RL: The dozens of albums recorded, the hundreds of songs composed, and thousands of concerts performed have certainly allowed each of us to explore our creativity within, and outside, the band. Music is quite an interesting intellectual and emotionally driven pursuit. Our music has become deeper, in my opinion.

Lee Loughnane:
HL: How did you become involved with this year’s InterContinental® Miami Make-A-Wish® Ball?
LL: We got an email from our manager Peter Schivarelli that we’d been asked to participate in the Ball and we told him to by all means accept the invitation.
HL: What about the event drew you to it?
LL: We have received so many of life’s benefits for doing what we do for a living and we feel it’s our responsibility to give back in some measure. Through the years many Make-A-Wish recipients have come to see our shows and we’ve been impressed with the organization. We are looking forward to playing for them and hope everyone is able to relax and enjoy the evening.
HL: What is next for the band?
LL: Our initial plans are to continue playing for as many people as we can for as long as we can.
After the exciting performance from Chicago, guests can continue the party throughout the night at the famed after-party presented by E11EVEN Miami. The official after-party for the InterContinental® Miami Make-A-Wish Ball, the InterContinental® Miami Make-A-Wish Nightclub presented by E11EVEN MIAMI will be held immediately following the Ball. Chaired by Shareef Malnik; Vice-chaired by Ken DeGori and co-produced by Creative Director Maxwell Blandford and Clif Loftin, with creative direction by DECO Productions, this year’s Nightclub is themed “Sky” and will feature 3-time Grammy Award Winner Wyclef Jean as Celebrity DJ and DJ Affect, along with a runway fashion show presented by Saks Fifth Avenue at Brickell City Centre. Tickets for the Nightclub are $150, but for those already attending the Ball prior, there is no charge. Guests can obtain tickets at a discounted rate with code AP07.
