An Inside Look At This Year’s Star-Studded Miami Fashion Week
The most prominent global influencers and fashion-forward Miami residents were in attendance at this year’s Miami Fashion Week. The five-day luxe event featured 12 designers, educational summits, Antonio Banderas Benefit Gala and an array of exclusive parties hosted throughout the weekend.
Day one kicked off in style with a star-studded press conference at EAST, Miami, the official hotel partner of the weekend-long event. Miami Fashion Week’s CEO Julio Iranzo introduced Honorary President Antonio Banderas, Creative Director Lourdes Fernandez-Velasco, Runway Director Sergio Salemi and Miami’s Mayor Carlos Gimenez and Mayor Francis Suarez. The conference focused on recognizing Miami as a powerhouse fashion city amongst New York City, Paris, London and Milan.
Tag-lined the “capital of the world,” Miami Fashion Week was named the second largest fashion week in the country. The star-studded fashion events kicked off later in the evening as influencers, celebrities and Miami’s elite attended MIAFW Kick Off Party at Saks Fifth Avenue in the Brickell City Centre.
The highly anticipated opening runway show by Venezuelan designer Oscar Carvallo featured the 2019 resort collection celebrating art, nature and femininity.
Day two featured the debut of Miami Fashion Week Summit, a series hosted by fashion model Valeria Mazza, focused on the industry’s sustainable and ethical issues. Later in the evening, guests arrived at the Ice Palace Film Studios in Wynwood as Rene Ruiz debuted his new brand “RENE by RR.”
The annual Antonio Banderas Benefit Gala featured a sit-down dinner, live auction with all proceeds supporting the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Foundation and Fundación Lágrimas y Favores, and entertainment by Colombian artist Fanny Lu.
Roberto Cavalli unveiled a special luxury collection, inspired by a modern design of beauty and sensuality at the gala to a room of A-list celebrities, global fashion influencers and leaders. The Roberto Cavalli team also donated an evening gown from the Spring-Summer 2005 collection to the live auction.
The stylish events continued throughout day three through five with runway shows by Benito Santos, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Daniella Battle, Carolina Estefan, Lina Cantillo and Custo Barcelona.
Notable attendees throughout the weekend included: Ana Quincoces, former Real Housewives of Miami star, Argentinian singer Axel Fernando Witteveen, Claudia Vergara, Alexia Echevarria, Spanish Influencer Aida Demenech, Luanna Perez and Danie Gomez-Ortigoza.
