Thousands of yelling fans could care less about who did or didn’t win at the Canelo vs. Gennady Golovkin fight in Las Vegas this past weekend. During the same night, Kesha fans are wearing plush onesies in 96 weather in her honor.

UPTOWN LAS VEGAS

Fans at JEWEL inside ARIA Hotel & Casino are there for one reason and that’s to see Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. This is the place celebrating the official fight after-party. There are trumpets, bedazzled pants and jackets. Do you know what that spells? Mariachi. Inside a nightclub. You can’t be surprised. It’s Vegas.

Mexican flags proudly wave. The cocktail waitresses are in boxing robes holding boards spelling out Canelo. JEWEL really thought this through. Canelo clubbed with fans and even allowed them into his area to take photos.

IN THE VALLEY

Kesha and The Creepies are performing as part of M Resort’s summer concert series. Standing in front of the levitated stage were fans cramming together like sardines. Including me, a claustrophobe Vegas princess. VIP tickets, lounge, or cabana for breathing space moving forward. I didn’t think this through. Her fans didn’t mind the zero elbow space and pushy people though. It’s Kesha, their animal and LGBTQ+ activist queen worth the plush unicorn onesie in 96 degree weather. It’s a sold out show after all.

Leaving before the last song to beat traffic, I see people swimming during the concert at the M Resort’s LED-lit crystalline pool during her performance. “Pool!” I was sweating and getting shoved by glittery people. When I saw the pool I nearly threw myself in. Some were even lounging poolside on the M’s daybeds. Stunning glass walls surround the restaurants at the M Resort. I look up and people are eating, enjoying the show from their brilliantly planned reservations. I was thirsty as hell, so I stopped for Gatorade before heading home.
