Weekend Roundup in Miami: Yachts, Ballet, Beach Volleyball Champs and more

Haute happenings took place in Miami throughout the weekend from the beach, to the sea, to the stage. With another weekend of warm weather in the Magic City, it was the perfect setting for the outdoor celebrations to ensue. Here’s a look at some of the highlights that went down:

SV Yachts and Haute Living hosted a swanky cocktail event at the Island Gardens Deep Harbour Marina to launch the brand’s first Alpha Yacht, where Angela Birdman and Floyd Raglin both kicked off their birthday celebrations. They even got to take home 24-karat all-gold doughnuts, made specially for the occasion, which Deco Drive captured live. Afterwards, they moved next door for dinner at The Deck at Island Gardens to continue the night.

The famed sporting event, Swatch Beach Major Series, returned to Fort Lauderdale for its second year to host the weekend-long tournament with beach volleyball’s Olympic & World Champions. On Thursday evening, the event kicked off with a “Cocktails with Champions” charity event hosted by Swatch Beach Major Series and and AutoNation. The fundraiser benefitted NSU’s Institute for Breast and Solid Tumor Cancer Research, raising $25,000 to directly benefit the foundation. The fête was emceed by NBC 6’s Adam Kuperstein while guests enjoyed bites from renowned catering company DO & CO. and a live performance by reggae singer-songwriter Mishka. After, guests moved to Center Court to watch a legendary match with US Olympian Kerri Walsh Jennings and partner April Ross.

Over the weekend, the Miami City Ballet debuted the world premiere of Alexei Ratmansky’s The Fairy’s Kiss, part of Program Three, at the Adrienne Arsht Center. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the event was the perfect way to kick off the week of love in the Magic City, as guests enjoyed the show and a following VIP after party with gourmet food from Made in Italy and some bubbly.
