Yes, it’s worth braving the hubbub around Trump tower to venture on to 57th Street and check out what’s in store at the Louis Vuitton flagship (1 East 57th Street). Now through December 20th, the label’s most exclusive and rarest hard-sided pieces and for the first time in the United States, the new Monogram Eclipse hard-sided collection, will be on display—just in time for some luxe holiday gifting. The Monogram Eclipse collection, designed to bring a 21st take on Vuitton’s iconic motif, is crafted in black and grey tones, rather than the signature brown and taupe that the company is known for worldwide. While the new pattern was launched just this year, its very chic palette was inspired by the black leather on the famous Malle Courrier in the Louis Vuitton archives.
Monogram Eclipse includes four new modern and casual bag shapes: a Backpack Voyager, a hybrid bag inspired by the Noé Marin; a Messenger Voyager; and two travel styles–the Keepall Voyager and the Travel Bag Explorer. Shoes range from the military-inspired ankle boot with Monogram Eclipse welt construction, and sneakers hand-covered with Monogram canvas. Also in store now–the hard-sided pieces designed by Kim Jones in collaboration with the Champan Brothers from Vuitton’s men’s Spring Summer 2017 collection, items from the women’s Cruise 2017 show such as the Boombox bag, and a number of exceptional and colorful exotic hard-sided pieces including the Boite Chapeau, Coffret Tresor and Ring box in crocodile.
In recognition of the craftsmanship that went into creating the hard-sided pieces Vuitton will have two in-house artisan on site, one of whom will be sketching product for special orders and another artisan will show how a Petite Malle will be made. Items will be available in store and at louisvuitton.com
