Inside Haute Living’s Cover Party for Georgina Chapman at Socialista
All eyes were on Haute Living‘s stunning cover star, Georgina Chapman, as she made her entrance to Cipriani Downtown’s posh lounge, Socialista. The beautiful, always gracious fashion designer was joined by her closest family, including husband movie producer Harvey Weinstein and children India and Dashiell, and friends to honor her special evening. Perrier-Jouët and JetSmarter joined in to celebrate with her as well.
Other attendees included philanthropist Jean Shafiroff, Alexandra Lebenthal, president and CEO of Lebenthal and Co.; star interior designer Jamie Drake; Cinema Society Founder Andrew Saffir and Daniel Benedict; famed dermatologist Dr. Patricia Wexler and many others including Haute Living CEO Kamal Hotchandani, Haute Living New York Editor-in-Chief Catherine Sabino, Italian Ambassador Paolo Zampolli and Pernod Ricard Director Jason Kim.
Chapman glamorously graced the cover of Haute Living New York‘s August-September issue, where she gave readers the inside scoop on how she and co-founder Keren Craig built the Marchesa fashion label (famous for its one-of-a-kind red carpet gowns), and her high profile social life in New York and on the international awards circuit with Weinstein. About the rapidly growing fashion label, Chapman said, “It’s high energy. A lot of creativity. Since we produce Marchesa right here you see everything coming together—from the sketch to the finished gown.” While tech collaborations intrigue, Chapman and her team are talking bricks and mortar, too, a future maison for all things Marchesa. But whatever the future holds, Chapman says she’ll be happy for things “just to continue as they are now. I love every day I come into the office. I’m incredibly lucky to do this, to work with my best friend Keren and my brother. I’m proud of what we’ve all built.”
When asked if she’d like to design a first female president’s inaugural gown (she and her husband hosted a dinner for Hillary Clinton this summer), Chapman responds, “I would obviously love to dress Hillary. I deeply respect her, however, a candidate’s style is not what’s most important to me. Hillary is an incredible politician, she has a brilliant mind, is warm and compassionate, and has all the integrity that I am looking for in a candidate running to be the President of the United States. That to me is what matters most.”
Guests enjoyed sips of Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque champagne that paired delectably with some of Cipriani’s famous Italian specialty bites as they mingled throughout the night. Georgina and Harvey spent time with their children before they left for bedtime while Queen of Wall Street Alexandra Lebenthal talked Bellport and Hamptons summer with Doctor Patricia Wexler and Jamie Drake told tales from his whirlwind summer traveling to Europe and the Far East for new design projects (he formed a new partnership Drake-Anderson with interior designer Caleb Anderson).
At the end of the evening, artist Bradley Theodore presented Chapman with a special gift of a gorgeous custom painting, while attendees snapped pics of the English beauty.
