New Opening: M Restaurant

Ever since the unstoppable rise of the Kardashian clan the letter ‘K’, has never enjoyed so much attention. But it’s ‘M’ that has London talking this November, thanks to the arrival of a restaurant in the City of the same name. Located in a vast venue off Threadneedle Street, M restaurant houses two restaurants, a wine tasting bar, a cocktail bar, private dining rooms, event spaces and a secret den – all of which Haute Time has scoped out in advance of its opening.

Still in its soft launch phase, M is looking to revolutionise the dining experience in the City with two 100-cover restaurants, each offering a different style of cuisine – a more masculine grill and a lighter raw concept – and presided over by Executive Chef, Michael Reid (Head Chef at Jardin Tan – part of the iconic Australian Vue de Monde Group) and right hand man to Australia’s ‘Rock Star Chef’ Shannon Bennett. On the ground is Head Chef Jarad McCarroll, formerly of uber-venue Chiltern Firehouse, who has designed both menus with his stellar team.

An audacious opening, the man behind the venue is MD Martin Williams, who left his role as Managing Director of Gaucho Restaurants earlier this year after almost a decade with the company. As you can imagine, this man knows meat and the flesh served here is of the highest grade available in London. GRILL will offer a single cut from six selected countries ranging from £25 to £139  including Wagyu from both Japan and Australia, alongside exotic meats such as crocodile and kangaroo. Carnivores will love the walk-in aging room where butchers are available for each service, offering beef master classes and allowing guests the opportunity to order their preferred cut and size of steak personally.

RAW features a Tartare and Tiradito bar, a casual dining concept featuring brightly coloured seating, sharing tables and high stools. Tartares, sashimi, salads, cured and smoked dishes and yakitori are all on the menu with signatures dishes such as Scallops and Bacon made with Scallop Tartare, Apple Jelly and Bacon Crumble, and Black Sugar Cured Salmon cooked table-side over salt stones. RAW also hosts breakfast, served from 7am each morning – think classics with a healthy twist.

Oenophiles rejoice! There is also be a dedicated wine room, where Enoteca machines offer rare wines on tap, including Opus One and Petrus. Looking for a more intimate setting? M DEN is a ‘secret’ bar with personal bottle lockers, table football, a humidor, a 32-inch television screen (that also doubles as a mirror) and enough gadgets to keep James Bond amused.
