Mark Burnett & Roma Downey Honored by the ADL

Mark Burnett and Roma Downey were the guests of honor at the Anti-Defamation League’s annual Entertainment Industry dinner at the Beverly Hilton.

The award-winning producer of shows such as Survivor and Shark Tank received the ADL Entertainment Industry Award during a May 8 ceremony; the award is given to individuals based on leadership and extraordinary innovation in the entertainment industry locally, nationally and internationally.

In accepting the award, Downey and Burnett said, “What a wonderful evening we have shared with family and friends, and it has been an honor for us to accept this award and we are forever grateful for the support of Abe and the ADL.”

The event, which raised more than $1 million to help ADL fight bigotry, prejudice and anti-Semitism, was also an evening of fun for its 500 attendees.  In addition to a gourmet dinner, the event featured performances from The Voice winner Tessanne Chin, gospel/pop group Raise and vocal super group The Tenors. Television and radio host Billy Bush served as MC.

Among the attendees were Della Reese and Franklin Lett, Brooke Burke, David Charvet, Yolanda and David Foster, Sebastian Knapp, Ali Landry, Kellan Lutz, Alejandro Monteverde, Ty Pennington, Jeff Probst, Lisa Ann Russell, Alison Sweeney, Hans Zimmer, Gary Barber, (Chairman and CEO, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures), Jon Feltheimer (CEO, Lionsgate Entertainment), Jim Gianopulos (Chairman and CEO, Fox Filmed Entertainment); Jeffrey Katzenberg (CEO, DreamWorks Animation), and Avi Lerner (Chairman and Founder, Nu Image/Millennium Films).

Roma Downey and Mark Burnett join a renowned list of previous honorees including: Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of DreamWorks Animation; Steven Spielberg, Director, Producer and Principal Partner of DreamWorks Studios; Ryan Kavanaugh, CEO of Relativity Media; Bonnie Hammer, Chairman of NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Group; David Weil, former CEO, Anschutz Film Group/Walden Media; Jeff Gaspin, former Chairman, NBCUniversal Television Entertainment; Tim Leiweke, former President and CEO, Anschutz Entertainment Group; and Rob Lowe, Actor, Writer and Producer.
