Haute 100 LA Update: Tom Cruise Settles $50 Million Defamation Suit
Tom Cruise has settled a $50 million defamation suit against a magazine that accused him of having had “abandoned” daughter Suri after divorcing her mother, Katie Holmes.
In a sworn affidavit filed last month in federal court, the 51-year-old star said the claim that he had abandoned his daughter was “patently false.”
However, the lawsuit against Bauer Publishing, which owns both In Touch Weekly and Life & Style, has been confirmed as settled.
A court document concludes that the suit was dismissed “with prejudice”; i.e. it cannot be refiled.
