After being in business for 26 years, it’s hard to believe that luxury Hotel Seiyo Ginza is closing its doors next year. According to the hotels’ parent firm, Tokyo Theatres Co., the luxury hotel will indeed close doors. By the end of May 2013, they will close the hotel and has come to a decision to sell the Ginza Theatre Building. HSG, an affiliate of Tokyo Theatres Co. runs the hotel.
In March 1987, the 77 guest room hotel was first opened by Saison Group and then by March 2000, became the property of Tokyo Theatres. Even though the hotel seemed small, each average room was very roomy with 60 square meters. The hotel has been known for its high-quality services as well as a very pricey room charge of 38,000 yen, but this did not stop guests from staying with 80.6 percent occupancy rate in this past April.
According to an official of the hotel, “Our business was good, and surpassed the rate before the Great East Japan Earthquake.”
Unfortunately, the hotel will soon say its last goodbyes to the Ginza district of Chuo Ward, Tokyo, in the meantime HSG is still undecided on whether to relocate and run another hotel in a different location, but only time will tell.
