Attention Palm Beachers who have a knack for high-end dining – two new and exciting spots are open for business this month at the vibrant Clematis Street in downtown West Palm Beach: Fuku and The Tin Fish.
The newest concept to hit downtown West Palm Beach is the fast-casual chain restaurant The Tin Fish, which opened its fifth Florida location last week. Ray Noonan and his two sons, Andy and Bobby, run this new Clematis Street destination and will present to their guests some of their favorite seafood plates from around the world, including a clam and mussel concoction with chorizo, oven-roasted tomatoes and preserved lemon or one of the 15 different fish taco varieties. They also stay true to the fresh and make all their sauces from scratch. If you fancy a drink, The Tin Fish menu offers hand-crafted cocktails like muddled lemon drops or margaritas with freshly squeezed lime sweetened by agave nectar.
Fuku is slated to open on May 20 and will offer modern Asian cuisine based primarily on Japanese, Chinese and Vietnamese gastronomy. The brains behind this sleek, new place is Paul Ardaji, who has previously worked in Morimoto in Philadelphia and Washington, as well as opened former icon downtown restaurant Sforza in 1996. The talented hands behind Fuku’s menu are Chef John Lyons, a finalist in the eighth season of the Food Network’s show “Star” and Chef Sean Kaplan.
Fuku will not just be a guaranteed taste of art – it will also be a work of art. The 4,500 square-foot space is undergoing a $1.5 million renovation that will result in a “Zen-like” atmosphere, decorated with both modern and traditional elements. Some eye-catchers include a 13-foot Buddha statue suspended above the dining room floor, a Japanese rier-rock waterfall, a 500-gallon jellyfish aquarium and a dark-onyx able that seats 20 communal diners. Some delectable dishes to look out for include “Fuku Signature Plates” such as Seafood Risotto Tobanjan and The Angry Lobster.
