Rolling out a red carpet for your off-the-chain Oscar party is so last year.  This year, its all about green, not green like St. Patrick’s Day Irish green-although theirs no shame in starting those festivities early- its all about being green for the environment.  So what better way than showing eco-friendliness than throwing a “green” Oscar party?

Greenbrideguide.com founder Kate Harrison gave us a few tips on how to throw the essential “green” party this Sunday.

First things first, rolling out the “green” carpets for your guests as they arrive.  Set up a rug or runner and have your guests strike a pose for the camera just like the celebrities in Tinseltown.  Looking for that old Hollywood glam?  Get some vintage props and dim the lights to give off that nostalgic ambience.

Right so now we have the entrance set up, your guests are going to be starving after strutting their stuff.  In honor of the film noiresque “The Artist,” bake some black and white cookies with organic mil, butter and cage–free eggs, or just buy from a local bakery.  Add even more glam to the cookies by designing them with cookie cutters shaped like an Oscar award.

Still feeling a little je ne sais quoi about treats?  How about some “Midnight in Paris” themed chocolate truffles made with organic ingredients to woo your guests?

What’s an Oscar party without alcohol?  Luckily, many liquor stores offer organic whiskey, bourbon, vodka and even sparkling wine.  Sticking with the “green” theme, buy beer and spirits from local breweries and distilleries.

Follow these steps and your bound to have a rockin eco-friendly Oscar party this year.  If you want more fun ideas go to greenbrideguide.com for information as well as websites to purchase some “green” goods.
