It’s Official: JAY-Z Is Headlining the 2027 Super Bowl Halftime Show
JAY-Z headlines the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show at SoFi Stadium in 2027. How to watch, who’s producing and what to expect.
After years of helping shape football’s biggest musical moment, the Roc Nation founder is stepping into the spotlight at SoFi Stadium.
Apparently, three sold-out nights at Yankee Stadium weren’t quite enough. After spending 2026 celebrating the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt, JAY-Z has found a rather substantial way to keep the party going: the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show, at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on February 14, 2027.

Yes, that’s Valentine’s Day. Consider your plans handled. Whether your date shares your enthusiasm for the catalog is a conversation to have before kickoff.
The announcement, made by Apple Music, the NFL and Roc Nation, puts Shawn Carter in a position fans have been anticipating since his company became involved with the halftime show: behind the microphone. He has spent years helping bring other artists to that stage. Now, it’s his turn.
“From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey,” JAY-Z said. “Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.”
The timing is particularly good. His yearlong JAY-Z 30 celebration has already included immersive experiences, limited-edition releases and a concert run that, according to the announcement, broke attendance records with three sold-out Yankee Stadium shows. Sold-out dates in London, Paris and Los Angeles followed. Clearly, the appetite is there.
So is the material. Thirty years of music presents a lovely problem for a halftime performer, and a mildly agonizing one for anyone putting together the set list. Which era gets the most airtime? How far back does he go? And, inevitably, who gets the call to join him?
Those details remain under wraps. For now, the confirmed name is more than enough to get the speculation moving.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, for his part, has apparently been waiting for this since the beginning of the league’s relationship with Roc Nation.
“When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that JAY-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him,” Goodell said.

Request granted. Eventually. A man with 25 Grammys, four Emmys and places in both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame can presumably take his time.
Roc Nation will executive produce the telecast, with Hamish Hamilton directing. Apple Music is also rolling out JAY-Z’s Road to Halftime, featuring exclusive content, programming and experiences developed with the NFL—plenty to occupy fans while they debate their dream opening track.
The performance will air on ESPN, ABC and Disney+, with mobile viewing available through NFL+. Spanish-language coverage will be available on ESPN Deportes and Disney+, alongside a separate presentation on Univision.
As for what Carter has planned, we’ll have to wait. But after a year devoted to revisiting the album that started it all, he has secured quite the stage for his next move.
Good luck to whoever has to narrow down that set list.
