New Hot Spot Lilium Opens Beneath W Union Square

On Monday December 12th, New York’s hottest new nightlife destination, Lilium, opened to the public. From the Gerber Group, which also runs such as The Living Room and Stone Rose Lounge, Lilium is located beneath the W Union Square. The spot was previously occupied by Underbar until it’s closing June 2011.

The concept of Lilium is based off Gerber’s original property The Whiskey in honor of its 20th anniversary. The decor is dark and mysterious and unmistakably downtown Designed by by Gulla Jonsdottir of G+Design, the cave like 1,600 sq. ft. interior includes a twisted metal ceiling that cascades down the walls that complements the sculptural black steel lilies, created by renowned metal artist Scot Brown

Taking notes from The Whisky’s rock n’ roll vibe, Lilium’s hand picked DJs spin a variety of classic and indie rock tunes with some souls and blues. Hand crafted cocktails, such as the stand out Blonde Manhattan, are offered along with small plates from renowned chef Todd English.

Throughout the winter, Lilium will be open Mon. – Sat.; 6p.m. – 4a.m.
