Save the Date: Masters of Mixology at Hong Kong’s Landmark Mandarin Oriental

Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong will be hosting its annual Masters of Mixology event at its incomparable MO Bar from June 15 to 17, bringing together five leading experts in the art of the beverage from New York, Japan, and Australia. For these three incredible nights, the masters of their craft will showcase their creative genius for guests at the breathtaking landmark hotel.

Meet the five master mixologists: Eben Freeman from New York City has over 20 years of experience in some of the city’s most heralded bars, including Spring Lounge, The Collins Bar, and wd-50. His sheer knowledge of everything ambrosian paired with his use of the science has earned him global acclaim. Also from the big city, Brian Miller boasts a 2010 International Bartender of the Year nomination and hails from renowned spots like Pegu and Death & Co. – awarded as Best American Cocktail Bar and World’s Best Cocktail Menu – of which Marshall Altier, the third of the mixologists from NYC, also spent time. Altier is a part of a small group of mixologists that is credited with joining together the kitchen, bar, and market, and has worked with some of the world’s most esteemed culinary figures.

From Melbourne, Australia, Michael Madrusan has spanned the globe on his journey to perfect his techniques. He quickly gained incredible acclaim for his work at NYC’s buzzed-about Milk & Honey, which he is currently a new location of in his hometown of Melbourne. From Osaka, Shoki Sato is an award-winning mixologist and owner of Beso in Osaka. Considered a purist in fusing tradition with new techniques, Sato has perfected the difficult balance of cutting-edge innovation and traditional Japanese techniques.

The three-day extravaganza will bring the best of these masters in an unprecedented display of expert mixology. For the first time ever, MO Bar’s upstairs Shell area will also pairing a decadent five-course dinner for 12 people with unique cocktails to be prepared table-side by two of the masters for $1,866 per night.
