Luxury Scotch whisky house Chivas Regal and its Global Brand Ambassador Charles Leclerc have announced the launch of Chivas Regal 16 Limited-Edition, the first 16-year-old expression in the brand’s history and Leclerc’s debut signature blend. The release represents a personal co-creation built on a shared mindset of constantly challenging expectations and pushing craft to new heights.

The concept began with a challenge. Leclerc invited Hyslop to craft a whisky built entirely around his vision—an expression that would capture the mindset that has shaped his career. For Leclerc, the number sixteen carries deep personal meaning, having followed him throughout his life and professional journey. That number ultimately became the guiding framework for the blend, bringing together sixteen exceptional whiskies, each matured for at least sixteen years.

What followed was an unusually immersive process. Rather than lending his name to the bottle, Leclerc traveled to Scotland to experience the artistry of whisky making firsthand. Walking through distilleries and warehouses filled with aging casks, he gained a deeper appreciation for the patience and precision that define Scotch whisky production. During the exploration, he gravitated toward the rich complexity of sherry-cask-matured Longmorn single malt, which helped shape the blend’s final character.

The collaboration between Leclerc and Hyslop unfolded like a creative exchange between two experts refining their craft. Each stage of the process involved experimentation, tasting, and recalibration. Leclerc challenged the blending process to reach further, while Hyslop encouraged the driver to explore flavor structures and balance in new ways. Hyslop notes that Leclerc’s participation went far beyond a traditional ambassador role. The whisky’s flavor journey reflects this layered craftsmanship. On the nose, sweet mandarin and juicy raisins open the experience alongside notes of manuka honey. These aromas gradually evolve into warm hints of cinnamon, sticky toffee pudding, and pastry-like undertones reminiscent of almond croissants.
