When in Los Angeles: Obika’ Mozzarella Bar

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Or at least if you’re in Century City, you can do as the Italians do, and eat lots of yummy, delicious Mozzarella cheese at Obika’ Mozzarella Bar in the Westfield Century City Shopping Center.

This modestly sleek and elegantly simple restaurant took the Westside by storm when it opened its doors in late 2010, offering top-quality, imported Italian Mozzarella di Bufala. It captivated us with its premium cheese selections, impressed us with its authentic specialty drinks and delighted us with its selection of fresh, seasonal dishes, such as the Zuppa di Zucca squash soup.

And now, starting this Wednesday, Jan. 12, Obika’ will win even more points with us when it introduces a new spin on its popular aperitivo hour. Held on weekdays from 4 to 7:30 p.m., Obika’ aperitivo hour already features 50 percent off specialty drinks and wines, which are accompanied by complimentary bite-sized portions of mozzarella with organic vegetables or with cured meats.

When Wednesday rolls around, Obika’ will be reinventing the aperitivo hour by creating a more social ambiance. It plans to serve the complimentary mozzarella, vegetables and meats in “desgustazione” style, displaying them all on the big table in front of the restaurant. Now there’s no limit to how many mozzarella balls you can pop into your mouth, or how many pieces of thinly sliced prosciutto you can pile onto your plate.

The next time you’re craving Italian cuisine, melt-in-your-mouth mozzarella and delicious cocktails, make sure to stop by Obika’ in the afternoon!
